The Tradition Continues

The teaching staff comprises twenty-two full time teachers and four part time
teachers. The services of a full time nurse and part time speech teacher,
provided by the Massapequa School District, supplement the program. Bus
transportation and books are furnished through the Massapequa School District
and many school districts that feed into our school.

Our teachers are committed to the philosophy of St. Rose of Lima School
teaching principally by example and embodying the virtues they endeavor to
transmit. Our united efforts aim to educate the whole child with goals
formulated to develop the spiritual, moral, intellectual, physical and emotional
development of each child. Formal instruction of religion, rooted in Catholic
belief and tradition, takes place daily. Liturgical and prayer experiences, along
with the opportunity for service, are part of our ongoing Christian formation and
community building. Above and beyond the school curriculum, students are
encouraged to develop and pursue their own talents, build school community
through their own initiative, and take an active role in their own formation.

We deeply believe that a child forms his or her basic feelings about beliefs
toward self and others from the attitudes and ideals exemplified by those who
comprise the child's world. In this regard, our Pastor, Principal, and teachers,
along with two parent organizations, the Home School Association and the
School Board, cooperate in the education of our students and the formulation
and implementation of many fundraisers and social events for our school
families.
